Changes of State--A Physical Change
S5P2 Students will explain the difference between a physical change and a chemical change.
b. Recognize that the changes in state of water (water vapor/steam, liquid, ice) are due to temperature differences and are examples of physical change.
b. Recognize that the changes in state of water (water vapor/steam, liquid, ice) are due to temperature differences and are examples of physical change.
Three States of MatterThere are three states of matter: solid, liquid and gas. When the temperature changes the molecules react and cause the material to changes state. For example, water changes to ice when the temperature is lowered to 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Water boils and turns into water vapor when it is heated to 212 degrees Fahrenheit.
