OverviewPearl Harbor was a surprise attack on Hawaii made by the Empire of Japan. This surprise attack is what finally convinced the United States that they needed to enter World War II. On December 8, 1941, a day after the attack President Roosevelt gave his his memorable speech declaring war on Japan.
