Some Interesting Volcano Tidbits

  • Volcanic islands such as Hawaii are formed as magma erupts from the sea floor. As the tectonic plate moves, new islands are formed through the same hotspot.
  • As tectonic plates move apart, magma rises to the surface creating new land.
