                                                                                                  • This simulation shows how mechanical weathering can lead to chemical weathering the wearing down of rocks.
                                                                                                  • Waves are constantly weathering shorelines, causing them to change over time.
                                                                                                  • Rivers are also constantly changing as the water weathers and then erodes the landscape. Meanders are created as erosion changes the course of the river.
                                                                                                  • Chemical weathering can occur when the acid in ground water begins to wear away at the limestone, leading to the formation of a cave.
                                                                                                  • Mechanical weathering can change the landscape in many different ways.
                                                                                                  • Weathering is the wearing down of the earth and erosion is when the sediment is moved from one place to another. You can learn more about the difference between weathering and erosion here.
                                                                                                  • You can see an animation about the rock cycle here, which includes the process of weathering and erosion.
